Waste Incineration and Heavy Metal Emission—Laboratory Tests

چکیده
The main sources of environmental pollution with heavy (ecotoxic) metals include industry, including utility and municipal power engineering, but also waste incineration plants. Fuel shortages their constantly growing prices raise concerns that energy will be commonly obtained from outside installations intended for this purpose (i.e., plants). greatest concern stems the risk burning in low-power boilers—domestic boilers. Waste plants are equipped flue gas cleaning (FGD), boilers not. exhaust gases directly introduced into atmosphere, which results introduction air of, inter alia, toxic metals. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct activities aimed at retaining ecotoxic solid–slag residue. paper presents laboratory tests emission capacity Cd, Cu, Zn bound various chemical forms—nitrates (V), chlorides sulphates (VI). were carried out 1073 K, 1173 K 1273 K. It was found emissivity increased increasing temperature. This innovative as there no reports experiments pure forms metal salts. advantage type research lack influence other factors, apart temperature, on emissions. To check possibility reducing emissions, additives (bauxite, dolomite, V2O5) immobilized a solid residue tested. mechanism action each limit mobility different. use V2O5 new. kept residue, effect different effectiveness tested checked same temperature conditions, such as: rubber, sewage sludge SRF fuel waste. depended waste, furnace If additive effectively retained metals, then amounts ashes higher by several dozen percent relation amount remaining after without additives. experiment open factors (except temperature) its reduction. next step verify effects real conditions.

Waste Incineration:
This study examines the development of Energy from Waste incineration within the waste strategies of local authorities in England. With the development of Waste Strategy 2000 for England, produced by DEFRA, (then DETR) and the inclusion of statutory recovery targets for the recovery of energy from waste, along with the implementation of the Landfill Directive (99/31/EC), there created a need fo...

The important role gained by waste incineration in European waste management systems is recently clashing with increasing concerns about loss of resources in waste, i.e. metals. Even though the recovery of valuable resources in residues from waste incineration is becoming a widespread practice, a significant portions of valuables resources remains in the ash and ends up in disposal sites. The g...
متن کاملMetal partitioning in products of incineration of municipal solid waste.
Metals contained in the waste transfer to the waste incineration products, including flue gas, fly ash, and bottom ash, as different oxide, nitride, carbides, and other phases. Most of the metal-based phases formed in incineration are toxic and their emissions need to be strictly controlled. Therefore, behavior of metal species during incineration must be well understood. Such understanding is ...

Since the end of 1989, ECN renewed its interest in incineration of transuranium elements and fission products. With respect to the transmutation of minor actinides ECN was requested by the clutch government to start a study of a scenario based upon thermal reactors and to work on incineration by means of new fast reactor designs. There are also plans for a study on the possible use of accelerat...
